Job Summary
This senior-level position is responsible for leading and managing all aspects of production operations at three plants of RDJ Bakeries; crackers, gluten-free, and assembly. In this role, you will conduct regular meetings with the management to ensure they are up to date on changes, efficacy and conversion within the bakery.
Additionally, you will have weekly meetings with the President to discuss initiatives, concerns, expectations of production and approvals of new processes. The ideal candidate should have strong leadership skills and experience in managing a production team.

Roles and Responsibilities
- Manage the production for three plants: crackers, gluten-free, and assembly.
- Manage supply chain activity, including projected deliveries, any quality issues, delays in deliveries, and efficiency within the plants.
- Monitor overall plant performance and activity.
- Establish production goals and monitor progress towards those goals.
- Report on production metrics to the senior management team.
- Revise goals and schedules as needed depending on external and internal factors.
- Lead the operations team.
- Provide prompt and thorough annual appraisals, including the coaching and development of work abilities.
- Create and implement an annual operations plan that includes financial projections, schedules, training, instructions, guidelines, and assignments.
- Create a plan for the warehouse’s administrative tasks;
- Create a plan for all inventory management; and
- Monitoring of all logistic functions.
- Maintain and assess the most recent budget reports for each plant.
- Create, implement, maintain, and oversee the organization’s safety, food safety, and industrial health programs and policies.
- Control and uphold ongoing food certification and requirements.
- Supervise and maintain inventory control records, maintenance and sanitation records, and vehicle maintenance records.
- Keep track of all records in compliance with the requirements of Ontario’s regulations regarding food safety.
- Create, process, and maintain statistical reports, logs, records, metrics, and data as needed.
- Lead staff meetings, management meetings, and other administrative gatherings; prepare reports as required.
- Follow-up on gaps in the scheduled flow of operations in the plants.
- Make recommendations for process improvements; track the improvements; and report on the progress.
- Analyze cost reports, including productivity tracking, waste reports, downtime, and supply ordering.
- Interpret the data to ensure continual growth and optimal production.
- Monitor inventory levels.
- Ensure product quality and implement improvements to production as needed when there are opportunities.
- Provide training, coaching, and disciplining for employees as necessary.
- Participate in the hiring process, including the full employment lifecycle.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Who we need
We are looking for someone who’s not afraid to roll up their sleeves on the production floor as bridging the gap between production and management is of utmost importance.
Qualification
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering and an extensive supply chain/logistic background
- 5+ years in a senior leadership position in the food production and manufacturing industry
- Previous experience managing a supply chain.
- Excellent leadership, organizational, and communication abilities supported by a track record of achievement.
- High-level understanding of supply chain management, inventory management, and warehouse and logistics management.
- Knowledge of data analysis and operations processes is required.
- Superior understanding of a variety of operational principles and activities, such as accounting, customer service, production, and personnel management.
- Previous experience in operations management is required.
- Experience in project management is an asset.
- Facility with office computing, including Windows, Microsoft Office products, Outlook and file management.
- Knowledge of LEAN manufacturing and Kaizen warehouse philosophies is an asset.

Working Conditions
- Based in a food manufacturing/production environment.
- Requires occasional travel between the three plant locations and the organization’s head office.
- The standard workweek for this position is 40 hours.
- The standard business hours for this position are 8 to 5.
- Overtime and hours worked outside of the standard work schedule may be required.
- Extended periods of sitting, standing, or exposure to computer screens may be required.
