Job Summary

Load Covering Solutions Ltd. (LCS) is seeking a results-driven and dedicated individual with extensive experience in planning and leading operations within small- to medium-sized manufacturing environments. The ideal candidate will be responsible for planning, organizing, directing, and overseeing day-to-day operations to surpass customer expectations. This role involves increasing production and asset capacity and flexibility while minimizing costs and maintaining quality standards.

 

The successful candidate will have a proven track record in devising, evaluating, and implementing continuous process improvements to minimize waste, reduce costs, and maximize quality and yield. They will also be responsible for ensuring production output, product quality, and on-time delivery to customers.

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Steer and direct manufacturing operations that generate $7M+ in annual revenue for all manufacturing (metal and industrial textiles).
  • Schedule all production for the week and 3 week forecast and assign work to all departments for completion and provide work orders to staff. 
  • Establish operational policies and implement process improvements to ensure superior quality and outstanding output of customer orders. 
  • Directly oversee 20+ non-union employees in manufacturing, assembly, installation, shipping and service and repair. Share a trusting relationship with workgroup and recruit, manage and develop plant staff. 
  • Manage operational and capital expense budgets exceeding $4M. 
  • Interface and collaborate effectively with other departments to ensure inventory availability for production and service, exceptional customer service, cost effective operations and on-time shipments. 
  • Monitor operations and trigger corrective actions. 
  • Commit to Plant Safety procedures.
  • Identify ideas for productivity improvements and where time is being wasted.  
  • Investigate and resolve all quality and re-work issues and manage operational changes to eliminate all re-work and trigger corrective actions. 
  • Ensure adherence to strict quality control procedures.
  • Develop and implement KPI to achieve operational goals and key business outcomes. 
  • Monitor and manage employee performance, abilities, training and development, motivation and leadership potential. Identify opportunities for cross training and advancement in the organization. 
  • Review GMA’s weekly for profitability and identify where improvements can be made and make recommendations for implementation. 
  • Actively interface with vendors, purchasing and engineering for capacity planning, product cost reductions from both design and vendor selection perspectives. 
  • Maintain compliance with critical safety and quality standards.
  • Collaborate with the engineering team on design changes, bills of sales, and reviewing drawings, requiring a solid understanding of engineering basics.
  • Conduct daily production meetings and plan daily and weekly production schedules for different departments.
  • Manage staff, including hiring, training, onboarding, and scheduling.
  • Foster effective collaboration between purchasing and production, working closely with the procurement team.

 

Qualifications

  • 15+ years of experience in manufacturing.
  • Strong understanding of metal or tarp manufacturing, with industry work experience.
  • Currently in a supervisory role, responsible for coordinating day-to-day workflow.
  • Additional certifications in engineering, procurement, project management, welding, etc. are a plus.
  • Experience using ERP visual is a plus.
  • Proven work experience as a Plant Operations Manager.
  • Proven managerial experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Adequate knowledge of business and management principles, including budgeting, strategic planning, resource allocation, priority setting, and human resources.
  • Familiarity with industry-standard equipment and technical expertise.
  • Computer literacy, including ERP (Visual Manufacturing) systems, Microsoft Office, and Solidworks/Autocad.
  • Ability to create accountability, responsibility, and lead by example.
  • Knowledgeable in safety, quality, productivity, demand creation, inventory management, and process stewardship.
  • Strong team building, priority setting, decision making, communication, and people management skills.
  • BS in Business Management, Mechanical Engineering or related fields
  • Mechanically and technically minded.
  • Advocate of lifelong learning, Lean Manufacturing, and other principles of manufacturing efficacy.
  • Stay up to date on the latest production management best practices and concepts.

 

Working Conditions

This position is full-time and requires the individual to be present on the plant floor. The Plant Operations Manager will directly supervise a team of 15-20 shop floor staff members and collaborate closely with the purchasing and engineering departments.
