APPLICATION ENGINEER, DC Power Systems

 

Founded in 1986, Innovative Circuit Technology Ltd. (ICT) is a recognized leader in providing DC power conversion products for the land mobile radio, fixed wireless broadband, small cell and industrial DC power markets. ICT is located in the heart of the Fraser Valley.

The company is looking for a motivated individual to join as an Application Engineer to support key customers, understand customer requirements and provide input on new DC products and solutions. Reporting to the Vice President of Sales and Marketing, the role will be a key contributor to the qualification of new products and systems, with opportunities to collaborate with strategic customers and industry leaders.

The ideal candidate has a background in sales and a passion and understanding of DC power systems.

Responsibilities: 

Sales and Product Marketing Support

  • Prepare technical elements of new business proposals when requested by Sales.
  • Define and create technical solution guidelines for the ICT sales and marketing team. 
  • Coordinate with the sales and engineering teams to formulate the DC product and systems specification to meet the customer’s requirements. 
  • Liaise with key customers to gather their feedback on products and solutions.
  • Support Sales and product marketing by developing technical documentation and training materials as needed. 
  • Collect and report intelligence on unmet user needs, competitive offerings and technology trends. 
  • Support project application proposals by reviewing site and system design drawings to calculate power requirements and specify the correct ICT components and solutions. 
  • Investigate market requirements for new ICT products and solutions, working directly with customers and technical leaders in those markets to define new product and solution ideas.
  • Prepare relevant records, data, and documents for product presentations and conduct training sessions for demonstrating new products and solutions. 
  • Prepare and deliver technical training both online and at customer sites. 
  • Conduct technical presentations with the sales team; present and demonstrate ICT products and solutions online, at trade shows and at customer locations. 

Customer Technical Support  

  • Provide Level 2 technical support for end users, system integrators and installers on ICT products and power systems.
  • Evaluate and provide guidance on customers’ requirements regarding systems design and application suitability for their projects. 
  • Analyze technical problems with customer systems, including installation, design, environmental and external factors in order to troubleshoot and resolve issues.  Manage key customer support activities to full resolution. 
  • Troubleshoot power system applications on customer’s request, help resolve other issues regarding systems functionality and performance, conduct regular follow up on customer’s activities, and provide feedback to Sales and Engineering on learnings. 

Engineering Support 

  • Set up and perform systems-level testing in order to verify performance, compatibility and standards conformance. 
  • Collaborate with the sales and product marketing team to obtain accurate information of applications, usage, system operations, and performance.
  • Assist in the development and improvement of technical documentation, application notes and case studies.
  • Support design teams in creating and implementing design verification testing parameters. 
  • Provide customer-based input into product designs and improvements intended to enhance the overall product experience including ease of installation, set-up and commissioning.

Ideal Candidate has the Following Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering strongly preferred or an Electrical and Computer Engineering Technology diploma would be considered with relevant work experience. 
  • A minimum of 2 years experience as a DC power related Applications Engineer, preferably in the telecom or wireless industry.
  • Excellent written, verbal, analytical and documentation skills. 
  • Strong customer support, organizational and time management skills.
  • Experience in specifying, installing, testing, and validating DC power systems.
  • Self-starter able to work with limited supervision; capable of developing objectives, setting priorities, and supporting customers in a timely manner.
  • Must maintain a strong level of product and competitive knowledge, as well as technology and market trends.
  • Knowledge of communications and networking protocols such as I2C, CAN Bus, and SNMP preferred. 
  • Working knowledge and proficiency utilizing Microsoft Office applications and drawing packages such as Visio. 
  • Candidate must be able to travel to the U.S. and internationally.
