Salary:  $77,438 to $96,681

Compensation: 9.3% pension contribution, dental, extended health, long term disability insurance, substantial vacation and other leave entitlements (in accordance with the Health Sciences Professionals Collective Agreement), relocation allowance 

About the Child Development Centre

The Child Development Centre of Prince George and District is one of the largest and longest serving child development charities in British Columbia.  We follow a family-centred philosophy and practice, using a multidisciplinary approach. Our team consists of physiotherapists, occupational therapists, early childhood support staff, and family resource workers. We also collaborate closely with community agencies, fostering each child’s social, emotional, physical, cognitive and communication abilities.

Position Summary

An exciting opportunity exists for the right Speech-Language Pathologist to join our team at the Child Development Centre in Prince George, B.C. You will work with a highly skilled and supportive multidisciplinary team of professionals. This position will provide a full-range of virtual and in-person early intervention therapy services to children from birth to school entry. The position will primarily work from our centre in Prince George, with occasional overnight visits to surrounding communities.

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Eligibility for registration with the College of Speech and Hearing Health Professionals of BC
  • Graduate of a recognized Speech-Language Pathology program
  • An acceptable criminal record check
  • Valid British Columbia Class 5 driver’s license

 

Responsibilities

  • Perform screenings and assessments
  • Diagnose communication and feeding disorders
  • Provide treatment through consultation and direct treatment to individuals and groups of children
  • Liaise with other professionals by participation in joint sessions, case conferences, etc.
  • Advocate for family and child
  • Provide client reports, records, and statistical data in accordance with accepted professional standards and the policies and procedures of the Child Development Centre
  • Provide consultative and educational services to clients’ families, caregivers, professionals, agencies/facilities and the general public
  • Refer families to other community services and professionals as appropriate
  • Participate in continuing education opportunities
