Kingsway Emergency Agency is a dedicated group of over 80 emergency physicians providing care at the Royal Alexandra Hospital and the Northeast Community Health Centre in Edmonton.
They are currently seeking a Billing Clerk / Office Administrator to join their small but dynamic administrative team.
This is a part-time opportunity ideal for someone with a keen eye for detail, strong organizational skills and the ability to work independently. You’ll play a key role in the smooth operation of the billing and office processes.
The ideal candidate has previous billing experience, is detail oriented and has a strong sense of initiative and enjoys working independently.

Responsibilities include:
The majority of the role will be processing the medical billings for all emergency medicine. As well as the bookkeeping that goes along with billing, reconciling and collecting payment from the occasional third party.
- Preparation of Royal Alexandra emergency department billings (AHC, WCB, DND, IFH, RCMP, Third Party, insurance companies, out of country, and others as required), including data collection, billings review, billing optimization, billings entry, submission and reconciliation. Periodic performance of the above duties for the Northeast Community Health Centre emergency department billings as required
- Maintenance of accurate records of accounts
- Development of monthly, quarterly, yearly statistics, and/or other statistics as requested by KEA
- Registration of new physicians
- Accepting insurance forms and ensuring completion by the relevant physician as needed
- Coordination with payors as needed
- Attendance at billing sessions provided by payors as required
- Bank deposits and collections as required
- Purchase of office supplies as required
- General liaison with physicians and patients as required
- Taking meeting minutes, usually monthly
Qualifications and Skills:
- 2–3 years of experience in a billing capacity, preferably in a clinical or hospital setting
- Successful completion of a billing clerk program, an office assistant program, or suitable experience (i.e. billing for a medical office billing)
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel
- Familiarity with Clinic Aid software is an asset
- Highly detail-oriented, organized, and process-driven
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to manage tasks independently
- Comfortable working with sensitive financial and patient information—confidentiality is a must
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Able to work collaboratively in a diverse and professional environment
- Strong record-keeping and document management skills
